Special Traffic Information Release

Foynes Air Show – Sunday, 17th July 2016

An Garda Siochana in consultation with the event organisers will put the following traffic plan in place to minimise traffic congestion on the routes to and from Foynes Air Show.

Road Closures

On Sunday 17th July, 2016 the N69 through Foynes Village will be closed to vehicles from 12 noon to 7.00pm and the L 6118 from its Junction with N69 (beside Reidy’s Centra) to its Junction with L6114.

Car Parking

Car parking at a charge of €5 per car will be available to the general public attending Foynes Air Show at the following locations:

Car Park 1 – Port

This is available to facilitate traffic coming from the Limerick/Shanagolden direction. Please follow the signs for the car park and directions of event stewards and An Garda Siochana. A complimentary shuttle bus provided by Dublin Coach will transport all passengers from the Port Car Part to Foynes Village. This is a three minute bus journey, and the drop off/collection point is a two minute walk from the main viewing area. Buses will run each direction for the duration of the event up to 6.30pm.

Car Park 2 – Leahies Cross

This is available to facilitate traffic coming from the Tarbert/Glin direction. Please follow the signs for the car park and directions of event stewards and An Garda Siochana. The main viewing area is a ten minute walk from this car park.

Parking for visitors with Special Needs

Designated parking for visitors with special needs will be available close to the Main Viewing Area. This will be open to receiving vehicles up to 1pm. All visitors utilising this parking area must be in possession of an official disability badge and display same to avail of this car park which is complimentary.

Tow Truck

A tow truck will be operation for the day and will tow any cars causing a disruption/danger to traffic and emergency routes.

Non Event Traffic

Those travelling in the region who do not intend to attend Foynes Air Show are advised to consider choosing an alternative route to avoid event traffic.

A diversion via Shanagolden, Mount David, Five Crosses to Loghill will be in place for traffic going to Kerry from the Limerick Side and a diversion will be in place from Boland’s Meadow via the Five Crosses to Barracks Cross for traffic going to Limerick from the Kerry side.  As event traffic may also be on this route please allow extra time for your journey or consider an alternative route.

Please allow extra time for your journey, depart well in advance and do not leave any valuable items in your vehicle.
